Auckland's Herne Bay along with the surrounding neighbourhoods of St Mary's Bay, Ponsonby and Freemans Bay have a strong sense of community and our Glengarry Jervois Road and Dida's Wine & Tapas Lounge and, nestled side by side, reflects this. Housed in the original building where grandfather Jakicevich started his grocery store over 60 years ago, we are proud to say we're still here and part of the community. It's still a firm favourite with not only the Herne Bay locals, but with many residents from the surrounding areas as well as those heading home from the CBD towards the North Shore. Proud winner of a Top Shop 2015 Award in the Food & Beverage category!
The Grasso family of Barbaresco set down their roots in the region in 1870, with their first vineyards being planted in 1921. Their first wine followed three years later, and the path was set. Ever since then, under the Ca del Baio banner, the family have produced an outstanding range of wines in a region already famous for its high vinous standards. Tonight in the Jervois Road cellar we will take a deep dive into the Ca del Baio range, from the more eclectic whites through to their renowned selection of Barbaresco. These are Nebbiolo at it's classiest and most elegant, and also wines that do not sit for long on our shelves before disappearing to cellars and glasses around the country.

For over 130 years the Pellas family have presided over one of the world’s greatest rum distilleries: Flor de Cana. The proudly Nicaraguan business have been through a lot in that period to say the very least and have come through it all with a determination to stand the test of time. As a result, they were the world’s first spirit to be Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade certified. This May we are pleased to host Flor de Cana’s Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador at our Jervois Road/Thorndon store to take us through this superb range of rums and their stories. We will take a look at how the 4 and 12 year olds perform in cocktails (spoiler alert – they’re brilliant), and also taste through the 15, 18 and 25 year old rums. The night will culminate in the very rare chance to taste the Flor de Cana 30 Year Old,1988 Single Barrel.
