TAMNAVULIN

The Tamnavulin story began in 1966 with the opening of the distillery in the rural Scottish village of Tomnavoulin. Closed in 1995, the doors were reopened in 2007 following a major distillery refurbishment. Since then, Tamnavulin have crafted exceptional single malt whiskies with an authentic Speyside character that's rich, smooth and mellow.

The distillery is located deep in the heart of Speyside. Home to over half of Scotland’s operating malt whisky distilleries, Speyside is the perfect location to produce whisky; the unique microclimate of the region makes it a very temperate area of Scotland. This, combined with the abundance of rich farmland, makes it an ideal place to grow barley and mature whisky.

Tucked away on the edge of the River Livet, the small group of skilled, craftsmen and women at Tamnavulin Distillery began creating the signature Speyside malt over 50 years ago.

Water is derived from underground springs in the Easterton hills formed by snowmelt from the surrounding Cairngorm mountains. This water is naturally filtered through ancient limestone rock before reaching the distillery, resulting in some of the purest spring water to be found in Scotland.

Oak barrels are hand selected, including bourbon casks from North America and sherry casks from Spain, to ensure their influence will perfectly complement and enhance the rich, smooth, mellow characteristics of Tamnavulin. The cask collection goes back to the 1960s when the distillery was first built.

Once filled with new-make spirit, the casks rest in Tamnavulin's cool, dark warehouses for a number of years. Over time, the whiskies gain their colour and flavour from the casks until they have achieved their exquisite flavour profiles.
