ZEFFER

Sam Whitmore and Hannah Bower acquired a taste for cider during a stint travelling through Europe, and the penny dropped between them that New Zealand, with its abundance of top-quality fruit, was ideally suited to the production of such an elixir. In 2009, they started the Zeffer Brewery in the lush surrounds of Matakana.

Their ciders are, of course, crafted from freshly-crushed fruit, fermented naturally and free of any compromising additives. Their goal? To deliver crisp, uniquely antipodean expressions to challenge the traditional ciders they enjoyed on the other side of the world.
