Charteris Wines is owned by proud Kiwi PJ Charteris and his partner Christina, with over 30 years winemaking experience PJ has gained a reputation as one of Australia's most respected winemakers and wine show judges, working on both sides of the ditch. In 2008 PJ made the decision to go back home to produce his own eponymous label, Charteris Wines. His vision, to craft outstanding single vineyard Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling from Central Otago.

About the Winemaker

Peter-James (PJ) Charteris

PJ was can early cover to the magic of winemaking. At the tender age of thirteen he learnt how to prune grape vines and worked harvest (after school) at Vilagrad Wines in the Waikato, New Zealand. Today, PJ can justifiably be regarded as a New World Pinot expert having handled multiple vintages in some of the worlds most exciting regions. He has an outstanding reputation as one of Australia'a leading winemakers, in 2010 the Hunter Valley Wine Industry honoured him with Winemaker of the Year. 2018 PJ is the Chairman of Judges for the Sydney Royal Wines Show and Gippsland wine show in Australia and show judge at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
