For many years now, a fundamental element of the style of Charles Heidsieck has been the amount of reserve wine that the blend features. The reserve wine in this wine makes up 1/3 of the blend and is itself a blend of 10 years, adding to that the 7 years this wine spends on lees. It is complex, layered and very long.

Golden Age 50 Year Old Tawny Port
In July 2022 the Douro and Port Wine Institute created a new category for port wine, the 50 year old Tawny. Not many producers have stock this old to blend but the first to reach NZ shores is the Taylor's Golden Age 50 yr old. Almost copper in colour with rich notes of rum raisin, sweet spices, and a dash of black pepper whcih lead into prunes, quince and apricot balanced with lemon zest and tropical fruits. Perfectly balanced, complexity beyond comprehension and an eternal length.
