CHATEAU DURFORT-VIVENS
The Durfort-Vivens vineyards share a boundary with the illustrious Château Margaux; at one stage both vineyards were owned by the same family, and the Durfort-Vivens wines were actually vinified at Château Margaux. Château Durfort-Vivens is named after the Durfort de Duras, a powerful family from south-west of France that arrived in Margaux in the 14th century. The Viscount of Vivens' name was added to the Château in 1824.
The 1855 classification ranked the Château as a Second Cru Classé. Château Durfort-Vivens is constantly searching for a natural balance between the vines and terrior, this value is evident through their traditional growing practices.
