CHATEAU LA LAGUNE
This Third Growth Grand Cru Classé producer is situated in Haut-Médoc, on the site of ‘The Village de La Lagune’ built there in 1525. The château itself was erected between 1730 and 1734. The Sèzec family acquired it in 1886 and it remained in their hands until 1956, when it passed to Georges Brunet. The proprietors since 2000 have been the Frey family (owners of Jaboulet in the Rhône), who have invested heavily across all aspects of the business in the pursuit of higher levels of excellence.
The properties on the Left Bank are slightly larger than those across the river, with La Lagune maintaining 82 hectares under vine: 60% in Cabernet, 30% in Merlot and 10% in Petit Verdot. The wines are early-drinking and quite feminine in style, with an aromatic and elegant presence. Nudges the upper reaches of its classification.
