DEUTZ
In 1988, on the eve of the 150th anniversary of Champagne Deutz, an historic agreement is signed between Montana Wine and the House of Deutz. For ten years, winemakers from the Grande Marque House of Deutz visited Montana in Marlborough to guide viticulturists and winemakers in the art of champagne creation.
To this day the multi-award-winning Deutz Marlborough Cuvée is today considered one of the premier methode traditionelle wines in the world and remains the only one in New Zealand to which a French Champagne house has lent its name; the unique result of a winemaking partnership started in 1988 between Montana Wines and the prestigious House of Deutz in Champagne. Deutz Marlborough Cuvée marries the best of New Zealand grapes with traditional French Champagne making techniques.
