MARQUES DE CACERES
No wine-producing country has changed more dramatically than Spain in the last 30 years, and nowhere has this been more evident than in Rioja, where a new generation of winemakers and modern technology have transformed this tradition-bound region.
One of the most influential new wineries of the region, Marqués de Cáceres is unanimously recognised as the leading producer of modern Rioja and considered largely responsible for the Riojan renaissance of recent decades.
The company is owned and operated by the Forner family, long established in the wine business but forced to flee to France during the Spanish Civil War. When Enrique Forner returned to establish a winery in his homeland, he chose what he considered the finest viticultural region in Spain, Cenicero in Rioja Alta, constructing there the first new winery to appear in Rioja in fifty years.
Today, Marqués de Cáceres continue to produce wines of the highest quality that pay homage to both Rioja’s terroir and its indigenous varieties.
