Passion for his vineyard, an inherent love of the environment, and a desire to produce exquisite wines year after year.... these are the driving forces behind Domenic Mondillo. Italian born, Domenic Mondillo was chef/owner of two multi-award winning restaurants in Queenstown, before re-training in Viticulture and Oenology in 1992, and becoming instrumental in the growth and development of the Central Otago wine industry. Developing the Mondillo brand in 2001, this small, handcrafted single estate vineyard is located 80kms from Queenstown, at Bendigo. Mondillo Vineyards is a 22-hectare (56 acres) property that specialises in elegant Pinot Noir, dry-style Riesling, Rosé and Late Harvest ‘Nina’ dessert wine. Domenic Mondillo is driven to produce distinctive, memorable wines. He derives much pleasure in knowing that those drinking wine from Mondillo Vineyards will enjoy the taste of Central Otago in a glass of Mondillo wine.
