RIMAPERE
With an idyllic location in the prestigious Rapaura subregion, the Rimapere vineyard benefits from an exceptional terroir. The cool climate of this region is ideal for the production of Sauvignon Blanc giving this grape variety its freshness, with a pleasant acidity and the typical aromas of lemon and grapefruit. Over 100 years ago, rivers were running through this valley and has left its alluvial soil made up of large river pebbles lying flush with the clay makes it fertile, naturally draining land. The vineyard is sustainably farmed, with a focus on organic practices in recent years which include grassing in the rows, leaving room for a flourishing vegetation and the development of micro organisms which allow the ecosystem to flourish. With an average age of the vines at 15 years, the grapes have developed richness and complexity.
Purchased in 2012 by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild with a passion to create a Sauvignon Blanc worthy of any table. The name 'Rimapere' means 'five arrows' in Maori. Five arrows are also the Rothschild family emblem, representing the five brothers, sons of Mayer Amschel Rothschild, behind the Rothschild wine business.
