SOUTHPAW

Established in 2016, Southpaw Brewing Company is the local craft brewery based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Southpaw founders Cameron and Penny returned home after several years travelling and working abroad. Inspired by the flavours and quality of beer overseas, they sought to bring back their experience and passion for craft beer and share it with New Zealanders. Southpaw's unique beer blends this international flavour inspiration with local, fresh New Zealand ingredients. Their first brew back in 2016 combined the perfect balance of NZ and US hops, creating their now flagship "Uncle Charlie" American Pale Ale. Since then, Southpaw has grown steadily, adding more beers to the range, and in 2019 stepped up production by purchasing a 1200L Brewery in Hornby, Christchurch. Today Southpaw produces a portfolio of award-winning beers, including a flavourful core line-up and exciting seasonal and limited releases. A love of sports and the fact both Cameron and Penny are left-handed provided the inspiration for brewery name "Southpaw". The names for many of their beers continue this theme; Quick Pitch Hazy Pale Ale, Switch Hitter Espresso Milk Stout, Double-Play Pilsner (to name a few) are a nod to American Baseball.
