VAVASOUR
The Vavasour family arrived in New Zealand in 1890 and settled in Awatere Valley. In 1985, Peter Vavasour noticed the region’s winemaking potential and planted the first grapes. Vavasour released their first vintage in 1989.
Vavsor is committed to sustainable winemaking and farming, and has been fully Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) accredited since 2000. Vavasour wines are available in New Zealand, Australia, United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, and the United States.

Stu Marfell
Stu was born and raised in the Awatere Valley not far from the original Vavasour vineyard. A graduate of Lincoln University, Canterbury with a Bachelor of Viticulture and Oenology, Stu joined Vavasour Wines in February 2003 as Assistant Winemaker. Stu became our Winemaker in 2007 and was a Finalist at the 2008 & 2009 Young Winemaker of the Year Awards.
