Woven is an innovative whisky producer based in Leith, employing an approach to blending that is all about community and collaboration. In the pursuit of the ideal blend, Woven source some of the best whiskies from across the world. No wonder, then, that they've hunted down New Zealand’s Thomson Distillery, an enterprise boasting a long association with our own Jakicevich family.
Hemispheres is a blend of two whiskies from opposite ends of the world. The boutique Thomson's Manuka Smoked Single Malt meets Woven's Single Grain in an elegant juxtaposition of oily, smoky, herbal characters with orange, clove and honey nuances, delivering expansive layers of aromatic flavour.
WOVEN WHISKY
Woven Whisky is not merely a brand, but a mission to redefine the blended whisky space. They blend cultures, philosophies, techniques, and stories from around the world, challenging the traditional confines of whisky making.
Their process is ever-evolving, prioritizing distinctiveness over mass-produced uniformity. Every expression of Woven Whisky is unique yet marked by structure, coherence, and a multi-layered flavour experience that characterises the brand. They witnessed first-hand the creative limitations and lack of quality brought about by the industrialized conventions within the whisky industry. This experience ignited their desire to forge a new path for blends. Envisioning a path defined not by mass-scale production, but by a human touch, with the needs and preferences of the whisky drinker at the heart of the process.
At its core, Woven Whisky is about people - the distillers, the tasters, the artists. A community woven together by a shared love for whisky, recognizing that the true beauty of whisky lies in its shared enjoyment.
Seeing whisky as more than just a drink - it's a shared experience, a moment of conviviality, a bond. While paying meticulous attention to the details of sourcing, blending, marrying, and proofing processes, making their whisky a unique experience rather than just another drink.
