YEASTIE BOYS
The Black is Back
Yeastie Boys has been successfully weird from the beginning, responsible for some of the most controversial flavours put into beer since starting in Wellington in 2008. Initially contract brewed out of Invercargill breweries, their first beer, a highly hopped and fruit forward porter, Pot Kettle Black, won accolades for its fresh take on the style. Some would argue it is a black IPA, but what’s in a name where beer is concerned (looking at you, 'Brut IPA').
Fresh and hoppy, malty rich and black-hued, this is a tasty and true original that pairs very well with food.
LOCATION
New Zealand
Most men will get their first bunch of flowers at their own funeral and in a country where Kiwi blokes struggle to open up about their feelings, we’re having too many funerals.
Chats between mates naturally happen over a beer, which is why the Blokequet exists – a mid-strength hazy pale ale brewed with flowers that can be gifted between mates to break the ice on traditionally hard topics. It’s time we normalised flowers for men, let’s do it before it’s too late.
Every can will also be a donation to I AM HOPE, supporting young New Zealand men.
Enticing layers of floral, berry and spice notes complement earthy aromatics of wet stone and black tea. With time in the glass, deeper savoury notes and richness from the whole cluster use emerge.
