The King of spirits in Russia is without doubt vodka, or водка in Russian. The history of vodka in Russia dates back to around the 1300s and 1400s, around the same time as gin and whisky were also born. Vodka is traditionally drunk chilled and neat in Russia. Today, it’s a core component of cocktails and mixed drinks around the world. Famous Russian vodka brands include Smirnoff, Stolichnaya and Русский стандарт (which translates to ‘Russian Standard’).
