Just a short forty minutes' drive from Christchurch, the Waipara Valley is home to a steadily increasing number of wineries, vineyards and viticulturalists wishing to gain from its uniquely placed terroir. The region throws out rich, spicy pinot noir and dry riesling for which it has become known, plus varietals such as Gewürtztraminer, Pinotage, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon have enjoyed sucess in this region of long hot autumns.
