KINGSBARNS
A FAMILY WITH A DREAM
The Scottish Wemyss family have had a longstanding passion for malt whisky and their connections with the industry date back to the turn of the 19th century when John Haig (founder of Haig's) built his first distillery on Wemyss land. “This rare opportunity to distil our own single malt whisky and develop a new Scotch whisky brand to support our existing business as an independent bottler will secure the family interest in Scotch for the next generation.”
-WILLIAM WEMYSS
A DILAPIDATED FARMSTEAD BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE
The story of Kingsbarns Single Malt Scotch Whisky begins with the conversion of a historic and semi-derelict farmsteading into a distillery. Built around 1800 as part of East Newhall Farm by Thomas Erskine, the ninth Earl of Kellie, this charming Georgian farm steading once serviced Cambo House and the Estate.
Made with locally-grown barley and water from our own source, the foundation of our whisky is our new make spirit. Carefully distilled with a particularly long fermentation process and taken from a high cut point, the Kingsbarns spirit style is characterized by a light elegance, and fruity, floral notes. Mindful of balance, we pair the spirit with the wood, marrying it with hand-selected casks to enhance and complement our signature profile. Released in small-batch quantities, our limited editions are examples of our experimentation into new avenues of whisky.
