Production of the Prestige Cuvee Louis is only around 4,000 bottles. This wine is made off the original family vineyard of Les Crayons, planted by Louis just after the war. 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir, this release is a blend of 2000, 1999, 98, 97 and 1996. It spent a staggering 15 years on the lees before being disgorged in November 2016 with zero dosage. 94/100 | Antonio Galloni; Vinification in oak brings out an extra dimension of breadth in the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Vinous and richly textured in the glass, the Cuve Louis is positively stellar, with fewer of the oxidative notes that I have seen in other bottles. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers and spice are woven together in this creamy, super-expressive Champagne.
