This incredible wine is exceptionally rare, and possibly the greatest sweet Juracon ever made. Didier Dagueneau began searching in 2002 for the perfect piece of land from which to make a unique world class dessert wine. He ended up in South West France at the base of the Pyrenees. Just outside the village of Aubertin he found a few hectares of Petit Manseng, located in a spectacular natural terraced amphitheatre. Reminded of the ancient hanging gardens, he named it Les Jardins de Babylone. It was made in collaboration with his friend Guy Pautrat as vineyard manager. Now Didiers son and daughter continue the association, and the perfectionist approach. This has always been produced in tiny quantities from ridiculously low yields of 100% Petit Manseng. It is never chaptalized, relative sweetness being secondary to the balance of acidity, texture, and depth of fruit. This has all the purity and precision of Dagueneaus greatest wines.
