Grenache
In its original birthplace of Spain, it is known as Garnacha. This is a true Mediterranean grape, loving hot, dry conditions and lending itself to many Rioja blends, as well as the rosés of Provence. It is also better known as being a component in the growing in popularity GSM (Grenache, Syrah and Mouvèdre) blends adding more body and frutiness to the blend plus, it is found in Spain's revered Vega Sicilia wine. Varietal characteristics: Raspberries, spices, black pepper, white pepper, blackberry, leather, coffee, black olives.
